Angela Sojung Lee
Flutist | Music Educator | Financial Administrator
Angela Sojung Lee is a highly skilled and versatile musician, currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Performance and Literature at Western University. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Queen’s University, with a focus on Flute Performance, and has earned certifications from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Grade 10 Flute, Grade 6 Piano, and Grade 1 Basic Harmony.
Angela’s professional musical career spans various roles, including her current service as a Naval Reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces. In this capacity, she performs with the wind ensemble and marching band of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship STAR in Hamilton, Ontario. Additionally, she is a flute and piccolo instructor for the National Band of the Naval Reserves, contributing to prestigious military events such as the Remembrance Day Concert and the Battle of the Atlantic Parade.
A seasoned performer, Angela is also a member of the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra and participates in Western University’s Chamber and Wind Ensembles. Her extensive performance experience includes collaborations with soloists, participation in opera productions, and involvement in international music festivals, where she has had the opportunity to perform in various prestigious settings.
As an educator, Angela has over a decade of experience providing private music instruction in flute, piccolo, piano, and music theory. She currently teaches students of all ages in Oakville and Hamilton,ON fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of music. In addition, she serves as a flute instructor at the CFLTC Music Training Centre in Borden, Ontario, where she teaches military personnel.
Angela’s expertise extends beyond music performance and education. She has significant experience in financial management, serving as a Financial Service Clerk at HMCS STAR. In this role, she provides financial support for the Royal Canadian Navy, demonstrating her capacity for both leadership and administrative responsibilities.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Angela is dedicated to community service. She volunteers as a piano accompanist at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and has performed for elderly patients at Kingston General Hospital. Her numerous honors include the George and Helen Vari Foundation Education Scholarship (2024), multiple awards from HMCS STAR—including the Band Departmental Award and the Commanding Officer’s Commendation—and the Kenneth & Esther Russell Memorial Award from the Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival.
With a distinguished career in music performance, education, and administration, Angela continues to make meaningful contributions to both her local and professional communities, sharing her expertise and passion for the arts.
